Another research team comprises Prof. Yan Keyou (1st left), Prof. Xu Jianbin (2nd left) and doctoral tudents discovered nonstoichiometric acid–base reaction (NABR) as reliable synthetic route to highly stable CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite film for the production solar cells. The NABR perovskite film is stable for two months with negligible PbI2-impurity under 65% humidity, whereas other perovskites prepared by
traditional methods degrade distinctly after two weeks.The result was published in the November issue of Nature Communications.

The Institute of Digestive Disease introduces an innovative technology: colon pill camera for screening bowel cancer
The Institute of Space and Earth Information Science has received a donation of RMB 1 million from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation for establishing a book gallery, organizing conferences and setting up scholarships.
The new findings of the research team led by Prof. Fung Ming-Chiu from the School of Life Sciences reveal that normal cells can reverse apoptosis as cancer cells do. And reversal of apoptosis may cause normal cells to become carcinogenic.

Prof. Kwan Hoi-shan, director of the Food Research Centre, developed a platform and database for the DNA-based species authentication of common dried seafood and tonic food products. The platform will enable the industry to monitor and verify the origins and species of these products.

In celebration of its 20th anniversary, the Faculty of Engineering showcased in the Innovation and Technology Fair a wide spectrum of new innovative research projects in engineering and information technology conducted by its faculty members and students.
Prof. Dennis Lo Yuk-ming, Li Ka Shing Professor of Medicine, received the AACC-NACB Award for Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Chemistry in a Selected Area of Research. He is the first ever Chinese to receive the honour.

In December 2010 Prof. Dennis Lo published his groundbreaking research that by analyzing a blood sample of the mother the entire genome of the fetus can be deduced and screened for possible diseases. Professor Lo was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in May 2011.

The soya bean is native to China, but having been grown in other lands for many years it has lost some of its genetic robustness. The <b>Homecoming of Soybeans</b> project aims at restoring the crop’s stress tolerance and enabling it to be grown in more parts of China. Prof. Samuel Sun (left) and Prof. Lam Hon-ming are at the helm of this meaningful project.
