CUHK launched its 'Green Office Programme' (GO!) on 11 May 2012. The programme encourages University members to participate and commit to some common, simple, effective and achievable green practices such as saving electricity and recycling materials.

Funded by Beat Drugs Fund and established by the CUHK Department of Surgery, the Youth Urological Treatment Centre (YUTC) held its opening ceremony on 19 March 2012 at the Prince of Wales Hospital.
CUHK Translation Archive Inaugurates<br><br>The archive preserves many rare firsthand materials, including the manuscripts of David Hawkes.

Mirrlees (1st right), master of Morningside College, perform eye-dotting ceremony to mark the inauguration of the College on 11 November. The lion dance team, consisted of seven College students, gave a wonderful performance and graced the ceremony.
S.H. Ho College officially opened on 28 October 2011. The plaque-unveiling ceremony for the four main buildings of the College was also held.

The Centre for Disaster and Medical Humanitarian Response, being set up as a collaborative effort by CUHK, Oxford University and China Emergency Relief Training, was inaugurated in April 2011.
A fun run marking the 60th anniversary of Chung Chi College and the 30th anniversary of the Faculty of Medicine took place in January 2011. Over 600 runners participated.
The Institute of Environment, Energy and Sustainability was established on 22 October 2011 to integrate and consolidate CUHK's strengths and endeavours in environmental research and education programmes.
MoE Key Laboratory Established<br><br>Officiating at the ceremony were Mr. Ming Ju (4th left), Director of Department of Science and Technology, MoE; Prof. Lin Jianhua (3rd left), Executive Vice President and Provost of Peking University; Mr. Cao Guoying (3rd right), Associated Counsel, Department of Education, Science and Technology, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in HKSAR; Prof. Yue On-ching (2nd left), Science Advisor, Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR; and Prof. Henry Wong (4th right), Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK.
The Finance Trading Laboratory was opened by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury in November 2010. The laboratory would provide practical training on the art of trading vis-à-vis real market fluctuations, and on the spot decision-making.

The Institute of Global Economics and Finance was inaugurated in early 2010 as a research and training entity with economists and financiers of the first order among its members. It was set up to provide conceptual and policy input in the context of China's emergence as one of the world's fastest-growing economies.
The Tsinghua-MIT-CUHK Research Centre for Theoretical Computer Science was inaugurated in June 2010 to pool world-class resources of these 3 institutions to lead international research in the field.

CUHK now has its own School of Biomedical Sciences to focus on research and participate in the training of students of advanced standing.
