The planning of CUHK (Shenzhen) has been approved by the State Ministry of Education on 11 October 2012. A ceremony was held at the proposed site of CUHK (SZ) in Longgang District, Shenzhen.
Attending guests have a preview of the campus design.

CUHK signed a Framework Agreement with the Shenzhen Municipal Government in March 2011 which provided for the terms under which the Shenzhen campus would be established, taking the collaborative project a substantial step forward.
