Scholarship Recipients Meet Professor Charles Kao<br><br>Seven recipients of the Professor Charles K. Kao Research Exchange Scholarships 2010–11 from physics and engineering had the opportunity to meet Professor Kao, as part of the activities associated with the awards.
Four students, from CUHK and La Trobe and Adelaide Universities, were awarded scholarships for exchange programmes in Hong Kong and in Australia.
A walkathon led by Prof. and Mrs. Charles Kao, the Council Chairman, the Vice-Chancellor and ex-VCs Prof. Ma Lin and Prof. Ambrose King, took place on campus in March 2010, drawing 3,000 walkers from staff, students, alumni and friends. The event raised HK$3,000,000 for the Charles Kao scholarship endowment fund.
In 2010, the Rhodes Scholarship for Hong Kong was offered to a medical graduate of CUHK, Timothy Cheng. His interests outside medical studies include literature, film, and sports, and his commiseration for human sufferings has been manifested in his voluntary services in Inner Mongolia, Kenya, and Yunnan.
