CUHK held its 70th Congregation on 15 December 2011 and conferred honorary doctorates on Mr. Ju Ming, Dr. Ho Tzu-leung, Mr. Lee Woo-sing and Prof. Yu Yue-hong.

<b>Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown</b>, but Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Sung, seen here receiving his seal of office from Dr. Vincent Cheng, the Council Chairman, has taken its weightiness in his stride.
At the 68th Congregation, at which Prof. Joseph Sung was installed as Vice-Chancellor, four illustrious personages, namely, Dr. Edgar Cheng, Prof. Xu Guanhua, Dr. Gerald Chan and Dr. Mok Hing-yiu (posthumous award) were admitted to doctoral degrees, <b>honoris causa.</b>

Dr. Vincent Cheng, Chairman of CUHK Council in succession to Dr. Edgar Cheng, presiding at an Honorary Fellowship award ceremony in May 2010. Dr. Vincent Cheng, an eminent banker in Hong Kong, is the first alumnus to chair the University Council.
<b>Gaudeamus igitur, juvenes dum sumus…</b>('Let us rejoice therefore, while we are young…', from a hymn sung at university graduations in the 18th century.) Graduates congratulating each other on the joyous congregation day in December 2009.
The 67th Degree Congregation took place in December 2009 with the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR presiding as Chancellor of the University. A total of 7,139 degrees were handed out during the event, and Dr. Song Jian, the Honourable Henry Tang and Prof. Roger Tsien were admitted into doctorates <b>honoris causa</b>.
