2012 Long Service Awards Ceremony<br><br>The University presented the 2012 Long Service Awards to 56 staff members who have been with the University for 25 and 35 years. At the awards ceremony, 49 received the award for having worked at CUHK for 25 years and seven for 35 years.

Funded by Beat Drugs Fund and established by the CUHK Department of Surgery, the Youth Urological Treatment Centre (YUTC) held its opening ceremony on 19 March 2012 at the Prince of Wales Hospital.

CUHK joined the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN), an exclusive network of global universities comprising 17 research-intensive universities spanning five continents, as the first member university in Hong Kong.
The I‧CARE Programme, with the slogan 'Aspiration through reflection; Renewal through civility', supports a range of major categories of social and civic engagement programmes.
As a token of the University's appreciation of the munificence of Dr. the Honourable Run Run Shaw over many years, a science building was named the Run Run Shaw Science Building in a ceremony in July 2011. Mrs. Mona Shaw officiated at the ceremony together with the Council Chairman and the Vice-Chancellor.
In May 2011, a total of 8 prominent personages, including eminent academics, a judge of the Court of Final Appeal, as well as senior members of the business community in Hong Kong, were created Honorary Fellows of the University at a spectacular ceremony on campus.
CUHK signed a Framework Agreement with the Shenzhen Municipal Government in March 2011 which provided for the terms under which the Shenzhen campus would be established, taking the collaborative project a substantial step forward.
CUHK is fully prepared, with a thoroughly updated curriculum built upon decades of experience in the administration of General Education and other programmes, to meet the challenges of the 3+3+4 academic structure.

To commemorate the centenary of the 1911 revolution which brought an end to the Qing Dynasty, part of the Shaw College student hostel was named the Yat-sen Hall through a generous donation from Dr. Ho Hau-wong and Dr. Lam Kin-chung in January.
The new teaching building which accommodates the Faculty of Business Administration was officially named and opened in January 2011 by the Financial Secretary and Dr. the Honourable Cheng Yu-tung, in the presence of the Chairman of the University Council and the Vice-Chancellor.

The Electronic Engineering Department celebrated its 40th anniversary in December 2010. Seen in the picture is Dr. York Liao, currently Chairman of the HKCAAVQ and one of the faculty members of the Department in its early days.
CUHK entered into a partnership agreement in November 2010 with the CFA Institute, with the Institute recognizing the University's curriculum as partially covering the Chartered Financial Analyst Programme.

The Tsinghua-MIT-CUHK Research Centre for Theoretical Computer Science was inaugurated in June 2010 to pool world-class resources of these 3 institutions to lead international research in the field.
Woo Yee Sun College, a fully residential facility among the five new Colleges, had its foundation stone laid in June 2010. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the donor and the Master-Designate (right).

In May 2010, the University assembled again in congregation to confer Honorary Fellowships on Prof. Rance Lee, Prof. Thomas Mak, Prof. Samuel Sun, Mr. Charles Leung, Dr. Tam Wah-ching, and Prof. Wu Weishan, all closely associated with CUHK for their outstanding contribution to the University.

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies celebrated its 45th anniversary with a year-long series of activities. Director Prof. Victor Li (2nd left) turns a new leaf of professional education that is rich in the humanities.
Long Service Award Ceremonies are always moving occasions, especially when you see people recognized for 35 years in the service of the University. The 2009 ceremony was held in April and the Vice-Chancellor was present to give away souvenirs to 14 colleagues who had served for 35 years, and 51 for 25 years of service.
January 2010 saw the foundation stone of the Lee Woo Sing College laid amidst festivities attended by the Secretary for Home Affairs (4th left), the donors and old friends of CUHK like Prof. Zhang Junsheng (4th right) and Dr. Alice Lam (3rd right).
The Vice-Chancellor presented awards for Exemplary Service to eight members of staff in January 2010. The presentation ceremony was attended by some 160 guests including the families and friends of the recipients, their colleagues, and also senior academics and administrators of the University.
